Life is More Beautiful with Guitar

The Japanese have a word Ikigai which translated means ‘one’s life purpose or reason for living’. They have another word Kaizen which means ‘continuous improvement over time’.
You may be asking why I have started my guitar blog with this? Let me answer…
Learning to play a musical instrument has been scientifically proven to offer numerous physical, emotional, and mental long-term benefits. I know that during some low points in my life being able to express myself on the guitar and release my emotions through it helped me to get back to my normal happier self relatively quickly. I’m not sure how I would’ve coped if I hadn’t had been able to play the guitar or another musical instrument.
As far as Ikigai is concerned, it feels as if my purpose is to share the musical knowledge and experience I have gained over the years with others. Kaizen is inextricably interwoven with the nature of learning how to play music because as musicians we strive to make continuous incremental improvements on our chosen instrument during our practice sessions and performances.
