Beginner Classical Guitar Collection

Introduction

Welcome to the Beginner Classical Guitar Collection. Contained within this collection are thirteen enchanting pieces that range from approximately grade 2 to grade 4 when compared to the Trinity College of London or Royal Schools of Music graded exams. All of the pieces are very musical that will challenge and delight players of all levels, especially beginners. The pieces cross several periods from the Renaissance, through to the Classical and Romantic era which provides a nice balance to the repertoire. A balanced repertoire is the hallmark of a well-trained classical guitarist and all graded exams require students to pick pieces from each era usually from three groups – A, B, and C. There are several ‘etudes’ or studies that focus on developing particular fundamental techniques. It is important to note that these techniques are also very helpful when playing modern music given that the guitar is still played in the same way that it was when many of these pieces were composed. The other pieces are made up of waltzes, stand alone pieces, and pieces that belong to other ‘suites’ such as Se io m’accorgo ben d’un altro amante & Vaghe Belleze which belong to a collection known as ‘Six lute pieces of the Renaisance’ compiled by Oscar Chilessoti.
