Fourteen Classical Guitar Pieces for Beginners
Introduction
Welcome to the NBN Guitar Beginner Collection.
Contained within this collection are fourteen enchanting pieces that range from approximately grade 2 to grade 4 when compared to the Trinity College of London or Royal Schools of Music graded exams. All of the pieces are very musical that will challenge and delight players at the beginner and advanced beginner level.
The pieces cross several periods from the Renaissance, through to the Classical and Romantic era which provides a nice balance to the repertoire. A balanced repertoire is the hallmark of a well-trained classical guitarist and all graded exams require students to pick pieces from each era usually from three groups – A, B, and C. There are several ‘etudes’ or studies that focus on developing particular fundamental techniques.
These pieces are ideal for beginners that are looking to broaden their guitar repertoire, technique, and musical theory and knowledge.
It is important to note that these techniques are also very helpful when playing modern music given that the guitar is still played in the same way that it was when many of these pieces were composed.
The other pieces are made up of waltzes, stand alone pieces, and pieces that belong to other ‘suites’ such as Se io m’accorgo ben d’un altro amante & Vaghe Belleze which belong to a collection known as ‘Six lute pieces of the Renaisance’ compiled by Oscar Chilessoti.
