Soar with Sor – A Collection of Four Pieces
Introduction to Soar with Sor Guitar Course
Fernando Sor was born in Spain in 1778 and composed incredible guitar music from the time he was 11 years old. He lived during the late classical/early Romantic period and composed many pieces that often included didactic studies as can be seen in the following opus works – namely Op. 6, 29, 31, 35, 44, and 60. He was known to play guitars by the French luthier Pierre René Lacôte. Other notable guitarists of the time such as Ferdinando Carulli, Napoleon Coste, and Dionisio Aguado also played guitars made by Lacôte. Sor travelled and concertised extensively across Europe during his lifetime achieving notable success. In addition to giving concerts, he also wrote several ballets with Cendrillon being the first to establish his name in that genre. Sor passed away in Paris in 1837.
