Meet Joshua Rogers
Founder and Visionary Behind NBN Guitar
A Life of Teaching and Performing
Born into the remote coastal Ngaitai iwi of New Zealand, Joshua’s audience was often his pig dogs and the families' cows. Since those humble beginnings Josh has been in demand internationally as both a performer and teacher.
Josh's teaching journey began when he taught his cousin how to play Romanza one note at a time in 1992, and at the age of eighteen he landed his first professional teaching position as a community night class tutor in the rural township of Ōpōtiki.
Josh has more than thirty years experience teaching graded exams for the Royal School of Music, Trinity College of London, and New Zealand NCEA Music Levels 1, 2, and 3. His teaching method blends classical techniques with a modern approach, succinctly disguising elements of theory inside popular music.
He holds a Licentiate Diploma with Distinction from Trinity College of London and has taught guitar at many schools in New Zealand and an international school in Dubai. His online lessons and performances have extensive global reach, amassing in excess of sixty thousand subscribers and twelve million views on YouTube across more than two hundred countries.
Under Josh’s leadership, NBN Guitar has grown into a premium worldwide platform for guitar education. Our programs are built on his passion and commitment to teaching, providing educators with easy-to-use tools and resources to inspire their students. Joshua’s mission is to empower teachers to deliver engaging and impactful guitar lessons, fostering a love for music in every student.
