Air on a G string - Johann Sebastian Bach
$5.00

Air on a G string is probably one his most loved pieces taken from a larger work 'Orchestral Suite No. 3 in D major, BWV 1068'.

The piece itself has a gentle yet enchanting melody and here it is transposed down one tone from D major to C major. Technically the piece isn't overly demanding although there is a difficult 5 fret stretch in bar 2 and an optional if not ambitious cross-string trill at the end for guitarists that truly wish to test their technique.

My arrangement has complete fingering suggestions for both hands and video tutorial(s) to guide you through the piece from beginning to end.

7 pages featuring:

  • Sheet music with tabs underneath (complete fingerings for both hands)

  • Sheet music only

  • Tabs only

Prelude BWV1007 - Johann Sebastian Bach
$6.00

This lovely Prelude by Johann Sebastian Bach is taken from the first movement of the first of his six suites for solo cello.

The six suites have been transcribed for numerous instruments but perhaps they sit very well on guitar because it is well known that Bach himself arranged Suite no. 5 in C-minor for the lute, recognising the natural ease with which the suites sit on instruments such as the guitar.

My arrangement has complete fingering suggestions for both hands and video tutorial(s) to guide you through the piece from beginning to end.

Prelude BWV998 - Johann Sebastian Bach
$6.00

This Prelude is a transcription of Prelude, Fugue, & Allegro in E-flat major BWV 998 composed for lute and hapsichord by Johann Sebastian Bach. This transcription is lowered a semitone to the key of D major. However it would be easily possible to place a capo on the first fret to play this in the original key if desired.

My arrangement has complete fingering suggestions for both hands to guide you through the piece from beginning to end.

Bourrée in E minor BWV996 - Johann Sebastian Bach
$5.00

“Bourrée in E minor” by Johann Sebastian Bach is one of the most beloved and frequently performed pieces in the classical guitar repertoire. Originally part of Bach’s “Suite in E minor for Lute, BWV 996,” this piece has been expertly transcribed for classical guitar, allowing guitarists to explore Bach’s masterful counterpoint and rhythmic vitality. The bourrée, a lively dance of French origin, is characterised by its brisk tempo and distinctive rhythm, which Bach skilfully weaves into a complex and engaging musical narrative.

I first learned this piece many years ago when I was still quite new to the guitar. From memory I learned it going into my second year of guitar study after watching Yngwie Malmsteen play it during a concert on television.

This is a great example of contrapuntal writing whereby 2 distinct melodic lines play simultaneously. When playing it's important to keep the lines separate where required and not to let one overpower the other.
