Vaghe belleze et bionde treccie d’oro vedi che per ti moro - Oscar Chilesotti
This piece forms one of the six pieces from ‘Six Lute Pieces of the Renaissance’ which is a very popular collection of lute music that has been transcribed for guitar.
Music from this period is often overshadowed by more contemporary pieces from later periods, however there is a certain beauty about Renaissance music that makes it well worth adding some pieces from that era to your repertoire.

Vaghe Belleze is an abbreviated title for the first piece in a series of six lute pieces transcribed for guitar by Oscar Chilesotti - an Italian law student turned musicologist. I actually played the entire set of six pieces as part of my first year undergraduate end-of-year recital. The pieces are beautiful and this one in my mind has the most memorable melody.
Here are the names of all six pieces in the collection:
- Vaghe belleze et bionde treccie d'oro vedi che per ti moro
- Bianco fiore
- Danza
- Gagliarda
- Se io m'accorgo
- Saltarello
