Cavatina came about at the behest of John Williams to the composer Stanley Myers when he asked for him to make music from another piece longer and richer.
Myers agreed and Cavatina was born.
The piece was used in the movie The Deer Hunter and rose to become a very popular piece and a favourite in many classical guitarists’ repertoires.
